I am yet to come across a plausible explanation for what happens after death. There is plenty of proof (although debatable!) of Ghosts and the paranormal. Does this suggest we continue to exist?

I just can’t my grip on what it would feel like not to exist. I am guessing you have to exist in order not to exist, right? And how does the consciousness work in relation to this? Is our conciousness made up of our biology, or is it something more… spiritual I guess you could say…?

I mean, surely if we died and escalated from the physical body, we would be leaving our consciousness behind. Keeping in mind that, like you said in a video I saw, matter cannot be created or destroyed but simply changed.This could get a little religious. But I am hoping for something more than religion.

What it would feel like not to exist. You are basing your view of your future perspective, on your current perspective. “If I exist as this set of senses, and these senses go away, what will be left of me”.

I have seen no evidence that suggests that our character traits in this lifetime, would also be our character traits in the afterlife (if one exists). We are a product of our environment, many of the decisions we make or are forced to make, set the foundation for future decisions.

We use previous experience in this lifetime to make future decisions, but we did not set our previous experiences. There is a spark of consciousness that seems to be able to get past that issue though. If you have eaten the same thing every Sunday your entire life, you still have the ability to not eat that thing next Sunday.

We can set and break cycles when we recognize them, but most of our decisions are based on previous experience, not consciousness.So, it seems the underlying issue would be “Do YOU believe you exist, other than your senses and learned behaviour?” That is my opinion, I could be wrong.

That’s about what it comes down to isn’t it Sean, whether or not you believe you exist outside of sensory (bodily) experience. And how you define yourself.
