The chicken and the egg does have a solution
louisakurt327 – ‘The chicken and the egg does have a solution’
‘Self-referential’ is an adjective; ‘self-reference’ is not. That is the distinction. Russell’s paradox is a self-referential statement; it is so because it involves self-reference.
That which is referred to or refers is called the “referent”. That’s what I understand. I am not sure if this is what you mean. I am still reading your writing. The chicken and the egg does have a solution, albeit not a conventional one. The chicken and egg is a heterarchy.
The problem with that paradox is contained in the formulation of the question. The question is usually framed as follows: Which comes first: the chicken or the egg? The question presupposes that one must come first.
An alternative answer is heterarchy, a mutual creating. the paradox of Sorites, or paradox of heap, yields the result that 0 grains is still a heap if you agree to the premise that “If n grains form a heap, so do n-1 grains”. It is not necessary to invoke infinity to obtain this result; it follows necessarily if you agree to the said premise.
